Malaysian Passport Renewal Online: A Step-by-Step Guide (2025)

Malaysian passport renewal online is a convenient and time saving option provided by the Immigration Department of Malaysia. This is especially helpful during school holidays and public breaks when queues can be long. If you plan to visit the office in person, be aware that there is a daily limit on the number of renewals, so it’s best to arrive early.

Step by Step Guide to Online Passport Renewal

Ensure the photo meets official requirements:

  • White background
  • Dark colored attire that covers shoulders and chest
  • Hijab/headscarves must be dark colored and not cover the face
  • No glasses, colored lenses, or accessories
  • Upload a softcopy photo from a professional photo studio
  • Polaroid photos are not accepted

Secure online payments can be made using FPX (online banking/credit/debit card).

Fees:

  • Ordinary Applicants (ages 13–59): RM 200
  • Senior Citizens (60+ years): RM 100

  • MyKad (ID card)
  • Existing passport
  • Payment receipt

Important: Third-party collection is not allowed. The passport must be in good condition (no tears, stains, or water damage).

The following individuals must apply in person at the Immigration Office and are eligible for the RM 100 fee:

  1. Persons with Disabilities (OKU)
  2. Children aged 13 years and under
  3. Students who will continue their studies
  4.  Pilgrims (Jemaah Haji)

Note: Use the online appointment system if visiting in person. (Currently available only for UTC centers.)

Follow these steps to queue online using the Queue Management System (QMS) app:

  1. Download the QMS application.
  2. Open the app and select “Service Providers.”
  3. Choose “Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia.”
  4. Select your state and UTC center.
  5. Click “Get Ticket”, then “Queue Ticket.”
  6. You can view your queue number and the current wait list.
